These
products are found in everything from hardware to motor
fuel to medicines. The uses for liquefied petroleum
gases extend far beyond butane lighters and propane
grills. Isobutane is used to calibrate temperature and
pressure gauges. Ethane also is a part of your everyday
life. Chemical companies use it to make plastics, carpeting,
and even food additives.
In
the United States and Canada, the most commonly used
liquefied petroleum gas is propane. Most of our countrys
propane is produced in North America, with approximately
60 percent coming from natural gas plants. The balance
comes from refineries, and a small portion of the
product is imported from overseas. Millions of Americans
rely on propane to keep them warm during the cold
winter months, cook the food they put on the table
at important family gatherings, and dry the crops
they sell in town to put the kids through school.
At
FNA, were proud of the role we play to provide
propane to customers in nearly every state in the
country.
